We see ads on TV, radio, smartphones, newspapers and magazines, movie theaters, billboards – every one of them nourishing us with an enduring supply of messages intended to impact our buying decisions, in addition to other things. Now a Russian startup taking this step to a whole new level.
The team is working on a project that uses a group of small satellites in low-Earth orbit to create Giant glowing ads in the night sky.
According to project leader Vlad Sitnikov, this commodification of the night sky is the next logical step in advertising. Turning the sky into an enormous canvas for satellite-generated ads would be a winner for marketers looking for new ways to reach their audience
StartRocket, the group behind the idea, believes it will have its gear prepared by 2020, and displaying ads in the night sky by 2021.
StartRocket Says that, Its cubesats will orbit at an altitude between 400 and 500 kilometers (about 250 to 310 miles) and will only be visible from the ground for about six minutes at a time
